A montane plateau at 2,100 metres where grasslands meet cloud forest at the edge of a sheer 870-metre escarpment called World’s End – one of the most dramatic viewpoints in all of Asia on a clear morning. The plateau is a UNESCO World Heritage Site protecting sambar deer, endemic birds and the headwaters of three of Sri Lanka’s major rivers. Best December-March for clearest views.
